Quote from Cat's cradle by Kurt Vonnegut

Really liked this one: "Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God."

More Cloud updates

Been working away more at the prototype for Cloud. Got it hooked up to my TV, working on a gamecube joypad and it looks sweet! wish i could get the wavebird working with it, but never mind. Got reflections and shadows working and started writing the code to allow manipulation of movable objects by blowing at them. Made a little flash demo to make sure it felt right before implementing in 3D which you can have a look at here. Hopefully will make a little video soon to show progress :)

International Hobo's game design archives

Came across this from a URL in Develop magazine, in which one of International Hobo's (Ernest Adams' studio) designers presented an article. Theres some sample game design documents here. Not had a chance to check it out yet, but looks interesting. Check em out here.

Intersting article here.

Cloud prototype

I've finally pieced together the different bits of the Cloud game-design prototype I've been working on into a working engine. it sucks so far, but it has got basic flight physics and collisions in there. Managed to get baked shadows working with Mental ray in maya so now the blinds have cast a nice shadow on the wall. its a satisfying first step, now theres something to play with :)

Gaming desktops

some plain rubbish but some great nostalgia at Desktop Gaming.

Book: Interactive Storytelling

Just been reading the few chapters of this book by Andrew Glassner. The more i read about storytelling the more it makes me understand a few of the basics of how people create the narrative strctures of books, films and games, something i really wasnt that clued up on before. its great watching films like The Cooler (saw last night) and picking out things that all went in pretty subconsciously before like aspects that make the characters interesting or the use of symbols to reinforce concepts or the central premise of the story. i had a bit of a problem finding the book in the uk, but you can order it from barnes and noble here and they deliver worldwide within a week or two.
